East Bay / KOAK

Aircraft detailing at Oakland (KOAK).

Oakland runs two very different operations on one field. North Field is the general aviation side with the flight schools and light aircraft. South Field carries the airline, cargo and business jet traffic. We work both.

Detailing at KOAK

Two fields, one shoreline.

KOAK sits on the bay edge, which puts every aircraft on the field into the same salt-air category as San Carlos and Palo Alto. The difference is scale: Oakland has real hangar capacity, full service FBOs including KaiserAir and Signature Flight Support on Earhart Road, and a based population that runs from trainers on North Field to business jets and Part 135 aircraft on the south side.

North Field: training fleets and light aircraft

North Field is high-utilization flying. Trainers fly six or seven days a week and the wash interval usually loses to the schedule. The result is the classic pattern we see across the Bay Area: chalky, oxidized paint on aircraft that are mechanically well maintained. On a fleet, recurring exterior care costs less per month than most operators expect and directly affects how the airplane rents. Paint correction brings back aircraft that are already past the wash-only stage.

South Field: jets and managed aircraft

On the business aviation side the priorities change to exhaust soot, brightwork, leading edges and a cabin that is presentable at short notice. We handle turnarounds around the trip schedule and coordinate hangar and ramp access through your FBO or flight department in advance.

Why salt matters more than dirt at Oakland

Aircraft based on the bay collect airborne salt continuously. Salt attracts moisture, works into seams, lap joints and fastener heads, and starts corrosion under paint. A wash at Oakland is not about appearance first. It is about getting the salt load off the airframe on a schedule, and about a sealant or ceramic coating that keeps a barrier on the paint in between.

How we work on the field

Our rinsless process needs no water hookup, no wash rack and produces no runoff, which matters on a field with airport environmental requirements. Static ports, pitot tubes, vents and antennas are masked before any water touches the airframe, and we work at your hangar or tie-down rather than moving the aircraft.

Common Questions

Oakland questions.

Do you work on both North Field and South Field?

Yes. Access on either side is coordinated in advance through your hangar operator, FBO or flight department.

Is Oakland harder on paint than an inland airport?

Yes, measurably. Bay-adjacent fields expose aircraft to airborne salt every day, which is a corrosion driver rather than just a cosmetic one. Aircraft based at KOAK generally need a shorter wash interval than aircraft based inland at Livermore, Tracy or Stockton.

Do you offer fleet pricing for flight schools?

Yes. Recurring fleet arrangements are quoted per aircraft with a schedule, which is almost always cheaper per airframe than one-off calls.

Can you do the work overnight?

Often, yes, depending on hangar access. Tell us the window when you request a quote and we will tell you honestly what fits in it.

Other fields we cover: Livermore KLVK, Hayward KHWD, Concord KCCR, San Carlos KSQL, Palo Alto KPAO, San Jose KSJC, Oakland KOAK, Stockton KSCK. See the full service area.
